Our Agoura Hills Spravato Therapy

Spravato, a cutting-edge treatment, provides relief for adults with treatment-resistant depression (TRD). It also aids in major depressive disorder (MDD) accompanied by acute suicidal ideation or behavior. Typically, Spravato is used alongside oral antidepressants.

The active ingredient, esketamine, is known for its rapid-acting antidepressant effects. At our clinic in Agoura Hills, patients are safely monitored in private rooms during treatment sessions. They can choose to either meditate in silence or listen to soothing music.

Many patients describe their Spravato experience as meditative and euphoric, akin to a trance state. This treatment offers a fresh perspective in addressing mental health challenges and provides fast-acting relief for those who haven’t responded well to traditional treatments.

If you’re tired of depression symptoms and haven’t found relief with other depression medications, don’t lose hope. Spravato nasal spray could be the solution you’ve been searching for. We administer it through a nasal spray device under medical supervision in a healthcare setting. This treatment can be a novel approach for those who don’t respond well to traditional antidepressants.

Explore Answers to Common Questions About Ketamine Treatment in Agoura Hills

Spravato is approved for adults with major depressive disorder (MDD). Specifically, it is for those who’ve had an inadequate response to two or more oral antidepressants. This is a major symptom of treatment-resistant depression (TRD). Adults with depressive symptoms coupled with suicidal thoughts or actions (MDSI) also qualify.

Spravato’s mechanism of action is unlike traditional medications. Most oral antidepressants work on the serotonin receptor (SSRIs, for example). This mechanism may have many negative side effects.

However, Spravato works through a different pathway. Spravato (esketamine) is an NMDA receptor antagonist. This means it works by modulating the activity of the neurotransmitter glutamate. Glutamate involves the communication between nerve cells. It is also associated with the formation of new neural connections and pathways.

Spravato is believed to promote neuroplasticity, which is the brain’s ability to reorganize itself by forming new neural connections. This process plays a role in the alleviation of depressive symptoms.

Spravato is FDA-approved and safe to use. Side effects include sleepiness (sedation), dizziness, spinning sensation, anxiety, or feeling disconnected from yourself, your thoughts, feelings, space, and time (dissociation). However, these effects usually resolve before you leave the office.

Antidepressant medicines may increase suicidal thoughts and actions, especially within the first few months of treatment or when the dose is changed. Spravato is not for use in children.

The duration of Spravato (esketamine) effects can vary from person to person. This depends on several factors, including the individual’s metabolism, the dosage administered, and the specific characteristics of their depression.

Yes! Spravato is covered here at Yofi. Medicare and most PPO insurances cover the cost of Spravato therapy. We are in-network with many major PPO insurance companies in Agoura Hills, California.

You will take Spravato nasal spray yourself under the supervision of one of our expert providers. You’ll be in one of our comfortable treatment rooms. Each room is equipped with a comfortable chair and blankets. They will also have dazzling galaxy lights, headphones and music, VR options, and more.
