The Experience

Are you tired of dealing with your depression and/or anxiety symptoms? Have you tried different types of medications that provided no results? Do not lose hope. We can help!

During your treatment, you will be safely monitored at our office in a private room. We will give you an eye mask (optional VR glasses) and blanket while you meditate in silence or listen to soft music. Ketamine is fast-acting; you usually feel it a few minutes after administration. The feeling is often described as a meditative, euphoric, or trance state. In this meditative state, Ketamine helps to “unlock” different parts of your brain to approach your issues from a unique perspective. In turn, this allows you to resolve deep-seated problems and relieve depressive symptoms.

Ketamine FAQs

Ketamine is used primarily for treatment-resistant depression but has shown success in treating other various mental health disorders like anxiety, PTSD (Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder), substance abuse, OCD, and certain chronic pain conditions in clinical trials. It particularly benefits individuals who have not responded well to traditional treatments.

Ketamine is a dissociative anesthetic that has been used for many years in medical settings, primarily for induction and maintenance of anesthesia. In recent years, it has gained attention for its potential antidepressant and anxiolytic (anxiety-reducing) effects.

Ketamine primarily acts on the glutamate system, a major excitatory neurotransmitter in the brain. It works as an NMDA receptor antagonist, meaning it blocks the activity of NMDA receptors. This leads to an increase in glutamate levels in certain parts of the brain. Ketamine is also believed to promote neuroplasticity — the brain’s ability to reorganize and form new synaptic connections. This is thought to be a critical factor in its antidepressant effects.

We offer Spravato, a Ketamine nasal spray, as well as IV ketamine infusions. This treatment is also incredibly effective and works in the same way.

Yes, Ketamine is completely safe to use when administered under the supervision of trained medical professionals here at Yofi Mind Health. We have a well-established safety profile. Our experienced team ensures a controlled and comfortable environment during each personalized, carefully monitored session.

However, Ketamine treatment may not be suitable for individuals with a history of psychosis or certain psychotic disorders due to potentially worsening symptoms. Individuals with pre-existing cardiovascular conditions like hypertension or heart disease may be at risk of complications due to ketamine’s transient increase in heart rate and blood pressure. Additionally, individuals with impaired liver or kidney function may not be able to process ketamine effectively, posing potential risks. Pregnant or breastfeeding individuals should consult with their healthcare provider before considering ketamine treatment due to uncertain safety profiles.

Allergic reactions to ketamine or its components can occur, ranging from mild to severe. Ketamine-induced dissociative and hallucinogenic effects may be distressing for individuals with certain psychological vulnerabilities or trauma histories.

Antidepressant medicines may increase suicidal thoughts and actions, especially within the first few months of treatment or when the dose is changed. Spravato, a Ketamine nasal spray, is not for use in children.

The acute effects of a Ketamine Therapy session may last for a short period, typically around 60-90 minutes. However, the cumulative benefits and improvements in mood often extend beyond the session, with many individuals reporting sustained relief in the days and weeks following a series of treatments.
